Wonderworks – An afternoon of thrills and amazementFlorida Guide > Other Activities Orlando has so much to offer, Your main reason for going will probably be Disney or Universal but if you have a half day and want to avoid the crowds, then check out Wonderworks, It costs about $16 for an adult but there are plenty of $2-off coupons in the booklets you can find in the supermarkets and loads of other places. You will definitely have an afternoon of fun and entertainment. Even if you don’t have kids with you, we didn’t at the time; you will thoroughly enjoy yourselves. By the look on most of the kid’s faces we saw they were all having a great time. You certainly can’t miss Wonderworks. It’s upside-down! In-fact we didn’t go inside for the first 15 minutes, remember to take your camera, as no one will believe you unless you have pictures! The story goes... a scientific research lab located in the Bermuda Triangle was caught up by a tornado and carried off to International Drive in Orlando, where it landed on top of a warehouse where all the experiments remained intact. It contains dozens of interactive games and displays that are fun and educational for all the family. There really is something for everyone. All areas of the 3-story building are very hands-on and challenge kids both mentally and physically. You can design and ride your own rollercoaster. When we were there was a queue but it is well worth waiting for. You can play laser tag, which involves you and the kids running around zapping laser guns. There is virtual basketball which is played with a blue screen, fantastic fun. How about simulated hang gliding, horse racing, and hurricane and earthquake simulators. A giant bubble making machine and lots and lots of quizzes about science and Earth. The good thing about this place is that you don’t have to know how things work, just be amazed that they do. I used the computer ageing gadget, very funny but very scary! If after all that you feel like eating there is a dinner show as well. The Night of Wonder Family Magic Show in the Shazam Theatre has some excellent illusions. Dinner is included with the show. It’s an all-you-can-eat affair with hand tossed pizza, soda for the kids or drivers and wine and beer if you fancy it. We thought the prices were very reasonable. We had a great time here and have recommended it to friends and family who all say the same.
