Universal Studios Orlando

Florida Guide > Other Parks

When you are in Orlando, you must visit Universal. Be sure to buy a multi day multi entry ticket as you will wish to go back lots of times.

The ticket also allows you to enter Universal’s sister park Islands of Adventure, this park has some big rides like The Incredible Hulk roller coaster and Doctor Doom’s Fear fall, Duelling Dragons Roller Coaster and for the smaller ones, Pteranodon Flyers. If you want to get wet, I mean very wet, there is always Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges and the Jurassic Park River Adventure which sends you peacefully around a river with all types of dinosaurs at each side of your boat, culminating in a drop into water before the end of the ride.

Going back to Universal, this is a great park with rides like Jaws which simulates part of the movie aith the boat host adding to the tension and the arrival of Jaws in several places where it is least expected, this culminates in the shark biting through a high tension cable which sets fire to an oil slick on the water.

Men In Black, where you ride in a car and have to shoot as many aliens as you can thus proving that you are suitable to become an agent, if you don’t shoot enough, your memory of the training is erased.

The Revenge of The Mummy, a great roller coaster ride going forwards and backwards in the dark with the cars stopping at various points for the Mummy to give you curses. One word of warning, make sure that everything that you are carrying is secure, my cell phone came out of my shirt pocket on this ride, the G forces are quite high.

Earthquake, this ride takes you on the subway train and stops at a train station where the earthquake happens, the train is moved around in the shaking, the subway opens up and a fuel tanker slides into the chasm narrowly missing the train before it sets alight, then a water main bursts with thousands of gallons of water cascading down towards the train.

Terminator 2 3D is a fantastic show, half special effects and half actors with your seats moving and various other effects happening at your seat position, I will not spoil it, go and have a look for yourself. Similarly with Shrek 4D, go and see the show.

When you get peckish you can visit Mel’s Diner or The Hardrock Café, if you go to Hardrock, invest $20 on their privilege card, it gives you privileged entry, ( if there’s a queue, and there usually is, you go straight to the front and are found a table within minutes), it also gives you a discount off food and items from the shops worldwide.

Don’t forget to go back to the park at night for the parade, great fun.
