Tokyo Dining

Florida Guide > Dining

Being from the UK where there is not a large selection of Japanese restaurants we decided on one of our holidays at the villa to visit Epcot and dine at Toyko Dining in the Japanese Pavilion.

My Mother and I started our visit with Cherry Blossom Martinis they were refreshing and very good.

When customers are being seated, the hostess announces something in Japanese and the other staff respond in greeting - it really makes you feel welcome.

Our server was Yumi who was assisted by Yumiko. The service here is really excellent with all the restaurant staff appearing to work as a team and they are all extremely helpful and respectful to all the guests. We were given nice hot towels to clean our hands with before our order was taken.

The tables in Toyko Dining are spaced well apart allowing you to have a conversation which is not always possible in some of the Walt Disney World restaurants. Our table had a view of the World Showcase which was wonderful however if you are seated in the interior of the restaurant you can watch the sushi chefs.

For an appetizer my Mother and I shared a Sushi Deluxe. There were about 12 pieces most were a basic fish on rice presentation. These included salmon, shrimp, snapper, tuna, yellowfin, omelet, roe, squid and three pieces of tuna roll.

My Father who was really hungry had Assorted Tempura - shrimp, chicken breast and vegetables served with a Japanese dipping sauce, it must have been good because it was a large portion and there was nothing left on his plate!

For a main course I opted for Bento Boxes (seaweed salad, beef teriyaki, tuna sashimi, rice, and vegetable tempura) and this really was the best Japanese food I have ever tasted.

My Father chose Shinjuku Gozen which was a Tempura/sashimi combo. The sashimi was 2 pieces each of mackerel and salmon, and 3 pieces of tuna. My Father said these just melted in his mouth. Although he thought the tempura would be just veggies it actually comprised a couple pieces of shrimp and scallops as well as vegetables.

Mother, intent of leaving room for a pudding, had a Japanese Cutlet Style which was a chicken breast and came with steamed vegetables and steamed rice. She enjoyed this but it looked a little bland compared to my Father and my dish.

Despite having previously decided not to have a sweet I thoroughly enjoyed the Green Tea Pudding whilst my parents shared a Chocolate Ginger Cake.

We will definitely return here the food was very good and the service was excellent.
