The Golden Corral

Florida Guide > Dining

You can go in to any Golden Corral and find the same food to roughly the same quality, it is a pay one price and get all you want to eat type of place but, by and large the food is of good quality.

You may well find that when you turn up to eat, particularly in the evening, you find yourself at the back of a long queue, don’t be put off by this, the queue will quickly move on, and people wouldn’t be queuing if the food served was not up to scratch.

At the tills, they will take the fee for your meal, plus whatever you have to drink, and your waiter or waitress will see you to your table, anyone having soft drinks can refill as many times as they wish. The waiter/waitress will put a pile of plates on your table and off you go to see what you fancy. As you eat and dirty the plates, the waiter/waitress will replenish the plates so that you have a clean plate for each course whether it be for another course or some more of the same.

They have delicious Bourbon Chicken with mashed potatoes, all types of fish, steak cut from a huge joint by a chef and to your requirements, so you can have it as thick or thin, well done or rare as you like, or in fact multiple steaks if that is what you want.

They have prawns in batter or without, fries and several different type of vegetable, all types of salad and a variety of soups for a starter if you wish.

For a sweet, they have ice cream and iced yoghurt machines, fresh fruit, several different types of cake and buns, biscuits, trifles and sometimes some custard, essential for an Englishman.

In some of the restaurants, they have speciality nights, for example, in one we use, Sunday is Carvers night, this will be all types of meat that you can carve. Monday might be shrimp night and as the name suggest is all type of shrimp, clams etc, Tuesday, family night, pizza, burgers, chicken tenders etc, Wednesday, Mexican, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas etc, Thursday BBQ night, no explanation needed, Friday, fish night with all types of fish including catfish, an acquired taste, and Saturday, steak night.

We have found this restaurant chain to be a good standby if you are not sure what you would like to eat, generally, even on the speciality nights, you can always find something for everyone.
