Old Town Kissimmee

Florida Guide > Places to Visit

This is a great place to visit if you want a bit of a rest from the busy theme parks.

Located on Highway 192 the small town is surrounded by many restaurants it is very easy to find and very close to many villa communities. Just follow the lights to the Sky coaster, you won’t miss them.

Parking here is never a problem and there are always plenty of vacant spaces.

You will find lots of little shops selling many varying items; from puppets to Christmas items, sporting memorabilia or British teabags, it’s a nice little place to browse around although not on the scale of the many famous shopping malls.

There is a photographic studio located in the town were you or your family can dress up in a choice of period costumes, it is advisable to book a photo session as we went the day before we came home and they couldn’t fit us in. You will also require photo ID, preferably your passport.

The children will be pleased to find a small fair ground were you purchase tickets to use on the rides. A bucking bronco in the middle of the town is also fun to watch though none of my family has braved this yet. For the very brave, or just insane, the Sky coaster is also located here. You will be amazed at this one!

The haunted house here is not for the faint hearted. A mad man, wearing a very scary costume, all in good fun but certainly not for little children, chased us around in the dark. My youngest daughter is scared just walking past the guys who work here!

If you have a fashion conscious daughter (or son) you will find here a hairdressing shop, which does hair braids. My daughter had her hair done here and it was half the price of what we’d have paid in a theme park, plus when you’re at the parks you don’t really want to waste time waiting to get your hair plaited.

On Saturday evenings the town hosts a cruise here of classic cars and bikes, this attracts lots of visitors. Live music is often played; we have been and watched line dancers and visitors are welcome to join in.

You will find plenty of places to eat, a favourite of my family is the ice cream parlour which is decorated in the style of a 50s diner.

I’m sure you will find the town an enjoyable experience.
