Entertainment and shopping in Orlando.

Florida Guide > Miscellaneous

Thought it would be useful to share our thoughts on things to do/see whilst in Orlando, we have excluded the main theme parks, as a million words have already ben written about these.

Kennedy spacecenter. Don't go home without giving Kennedy space Center a visit--just over 1 hour drive away from Kissimmee—one of the best value days you will ever have. And suitable for all ages.

Walmart the biggest and best is on Highway 192 just behind Medieval Times.

Open 24 hour Superstore. Just about anything you might need and lots of choice. groceries, gifts, clothing, footwear, underwear, nightwear, swimwear, Disney clothing and gifts, pool fun stuff, pharmacy, cosmetics, jewellery, etc

Angels Restaurant-located on Highway 192 close to Disney.

Angels all you can eat prime rib and seafood. This is where the locals go--and we always pay a visit at least once during our stay.

Outback Restaurant is located on Highway 192 close to Marker 16. You won’t find any coupons or adverts for this place—they don’t need to as it is always full, majority are locals. You cannot book, simply turn up and put your name on the wait list, which could be 30-50 minutes at weekend, but you can enjoy a drink at the central bar.

Well worth a visit if you enjoy really good steak cooked to perfection. A friendly, family ranch style restaurant. You won't get a better steak than here. Make sure you order one of their sliced onions for starters. Not able to book in advance--expect a small line/queue.

Horse World Stables is located about 2 miles from Medieval Times.

we are told that this is a good place to visit for some horse riding.

Celebration Golf Course is one of the finest golf courses in the area--and is located just 5 mins drive from the 192, simply follow signs to Celebration. The town centre here is also worth a visit for a drink or a meal—a very quaint and modern town. .

Orlando Premium Outlet is located just off the Interstate 4 at the intersection with the 535, not easy to find the entrance , but look for the large brick wall with the words Lake Byron Road. This is one of the best shopping malls in the area, all the usual names are there—Nike, Gap, Banana Republic, Ralph Lauren, Reebok, Adidas, .

Seaworld This is our favourite theme park---very different from Disney---the children love it to. Only a couple of rides, but you can spend the whole day being entertained at the various shows, the best of which is the Shamu Killer Whale Show.
