Downtown Disney The Market Place part 1

Florida Guide > Disney General

One of our favourite places for a day away from the hustle and bustle of the parks is Downtown Disney which is situated within Walt Disney World. There is an abundance of free parking which runs along the back of this entire area and there is also valet parking for a small fee.

Downtown Disney is split into three different areas, each within walking distance of each other and joined by a long walkway. Our favourite part is The Market Place which is filled with a wealth of wonderful Disney shops and delicious places to eat.

One shop that could keep our son (and many other children!) good for hours is The Lego Shop. This shop is truly a sight to behold! Outside the front area of the shop are some permanent lego structures – a family walking a pack of dogs, a huge lego Loch Ness monster rising up out of the lake! There is a super play area for children to play for as long as they want with piles of lego – fathers also seem to enjoy this part too! All this is free of charge as well!! The shop inside is absolutely crammed with every sort of lego that you could possibly imagine. There are fantastic kits for building things such as Star Wars ships, all the Harry Potter lego kits you could ever dream of, and many, many more too numerous to mention! At the far end of the shop is a wall stacked with drawers full of individual pieces of lego. You can buy for a very reasonable price either a large tub or a small tub and fill them with which ever pieces of lego you may desire – pots full of roof tiles, doors, windows, steering wheels etc. as well as “normal” pieces of lego.

Another wonderful shop is “Basin”. This is a fabulous shop full of bath bombs, shampoo bars, moisturising creams and the most incredible soaps that I have ever seen! These soaps are out of this world and truly look good enough to eat – there are clear bars of soap with soap candies inside, or soap flowers inside – infact nearly enough anything that you could think of. The bath bombs are delicious and you are spoilt for choice with them. You can buy them individually or buy a variety in a little wicker basket which is a lovely idea for a gift.

There is a quaint little shop called “Disney Tails” which is full of gifts for your pets. There are dishes and bowls decorated with Mickey and his friends, freshly made treats for your furry friends, and even little Disney outfits in which to dress your pet! How pampered is your pet??

There is more to come in Part 2 …………….
