Do’s and don’t’s when selecting what to do in Orlando

With a limited time and so much to do in Orlando it would be helpful to have some idea what each attraction is all about. Different age groups will want different things to do. For example if all you want to do is lie on a beach and relax for 2 weeks – you’re in the wrong place!
If you are a group of mature adults, the normal theme park rides are probably not for you, so attractions like Cypress Gardens will be more your kind of thing. It is basically a botanical gardens attraction with relaxing walks and boat trips. Trips out to places like Celebration on Highway 192 are lovely for strolling and enjoying the feeling of being in America. It has some lovely specialist small shops to browse in or you can just sit in a rocking chair by the like. The restaurants and café are rather special too.
Most people of all ages though enjoy Epcot. This has attractions for all ages. The obvious ones for the younger ones are the “Seas with Nemo and Friends”, “Journey into Imagination with Figment” and Kidcot funstops. They will probably also enjoy Spaceship Earth even though this will appeal to everyone. Rides such as “The Land” are really only of interest to older adults, as young ones would find it altogether too boring to sit through a talk on agriculture. Walking around and exploring the World Showcase Pavilion is wonderful but tiring. And don’t forget to stay for the fireworks at 9pm they will turn out to be the highlight of your holiday.
For children who are mad about computer games there is an attraction on International Drive called “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” which is great for techie children but not for any one else. Likewise the nearby Upside down house called “Wonderworks” teaches interested children all about physics but in a fun way.
There are various airboat rides dotted around and are great fun and very interesting but for very little children the noise of the engines could seriously damage there hearing and very fidgety children would have to sit very still for safety reasons and they might find that difficult.
Wet ’n Wild is one of the biggest and best water theme parks for all ages but if you have trouble with lots of stairs you will not be able to enjoy it to the full.
Gatorland in Kissimmee is a great way to observe alligators in their natural habitat and should appeal to all ages. However, there is a lot of walking involved to really get the best of this park.
Finally, Universal is split into two parks. Universal Studios has all the old favourites like Jaws but the Island of Adventures has rides that will only appeal to thrill seekers with very strong stomachs.Author: Vincent and Hazel Coates (Villa link: click here)
